And we’re off!
My MeriNanny and I are setting out on our own adventures while Mum and Dad enjoy the slopes. We’ll take you along to show you what we get up to and how we enjoy the snowy valleys during winter, highlighting our favourite spots in Méribel and Courchevel. Hopefully, our experiences will inspire you as well…
GENTLE SNOW FUN
Discover 5 gentle snow activities for little ones, recommended by our experienced nannies in Courchevel and Méribel. From toddler-friendly sledging and winter walks to scenic gondola rides with stunning mountain views, there’s something for every age. Finish with a cosy stop for hot chocolate, perfect for warming up after snowy adventures.
1. Doron Sledging Area (Luge du Doron – Méribel)
A wide, gentle, and safe sledging zone separated from skiers, ideal for toddlers and beginners. It even has a free magic-carpet lift so kids don’t get tired climbing back up, making it great for repeated fun sessions.
2. For Older Kids (Méribel-Mottaret)
More advanced sledge runs like ‘Mission Black Forest’ and ‘Himalaya by Night’ are amazing, but geared toward older kids, around 12+ and require height/age minimums and specific sledges.
3. Little Sledge Run Near Courchevel 1850 (Tovets Area)
A gentle sledging track near the Tovets chairlift, suitable for families with toddlers. A lovely spot simply to enjoy short, safe slopes and fresh snow.
4. Winter Walk – Réserve Naturelle de Tuéda (near Méribel-Mottaret)
A mostly flat, scenic walk around Lac de Tuéda that winds through pine forest and open snowfields — in good conditions, a robust stroller can manage parts of this, and otherwise it’s great with a baby carrier.
The trail is gentle and popular with families, with picnic areas and a shelter near the lake.
Check the official website of Meribel for more information.
5. Perle de Lune’s Tepee & Kids Zone in the Western Ski Park (Ariondaz/ Courchevel Moriond 1650)
Located in the Western Ski Park area, accessed via the Ariondaz gondola in Courchevel Moriond (1650).
What you’ll find:
A real tepee set up on the snow, where kids can go inside and meet Perle de Lune and her friend Grey Wolf (part of the Native American/forest theme).
Fun interactive activities designed for children — like face painting, archery, fancy dress, and playful storytelling inside and around the tepee.
A mini‑museum atmosphere and games that often run during the French school holidays (typically mid‑week afternoons).
How to get there on foot:
Take the Ariondaz gondola — you can ride it with a pedestrian pass (kids under 5 often free). Once at the top, it is a short, gentle snow walk and with magic carpets that lead you into the Western Ski Park, where the tepee and characters are located.
