What Our Nannies Can Do in Megeve
Megeve holds the French national FAMILLE PLUS Mountain award for its high standards of service and facilities for families. This means the resort has taken into consideration what it offers to families and makes sure there are child friendly activities, facilities, and some price discounts for kids.
Families with Evasion Mont Blanc ski passes can receive free unlimited admission to the sports centre which has a swimming pool, Olympic ice rink and much more. In addition, there’s a toddler’s reading corner in the resort’s Media Library where you can borrow books, CDs, and DVDs.
Taking a horse carriage from the centre of the small beautiful village is great fun for kids of all ages and the ice-skating ring another. During the whole of the winter there is a beautiful decorated Christmas tree by the church where children love to watch the flickering lights before a hot chocolate in a nearby café.
About Megeve Ski Resort
Megeve, nestled in a sunny valley above the Arve Valley is a charming small town with a cozy and traditional atmosphere. The well-preserved medieval centre features a 13th century church, authentic cobbled streets lined with wooden houses, and horse-drawn sleighs with tinkling bells.
Megève’s skiing area, known as the “Domaine Évasion Montblanc”, comprises: Megève itself (Mont d’Arbois, L’Allpete, Rochebrune and Côte 2000), Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, Combloux, La Giettaz, Les Contamines-Montjoie and Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce. Skiers with intermediate skills can enjoy extensive ski area in Megève, while the more timid can find plenty of beautiful and easy-going blue runs. Both beginners and experts will have a positive experience, and groups with varying skill levels will not have a problem here.
The town started its development as a ski resort in the 1910s when the Rothschild family started to spend their winter vacations there after becoming disenchanted with the Swiss resort: St. Moritz. In 1921, Baronne Noémie de Rothschild opened an important hotel which boosted the resort’s development. By the 1890s Megève was one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe and attracted many wealthy individuals and celebrities. Nowadays it is still visited largely by affluent people as is made obvious by the real estate prices.
Megeve ensures a fine experience whether you prefer an apartment, a chalet a luxury hotel or furnished rental. It provides high quality service blending tradition and modernity. You will find a wide range of accommodation in the centre of the village or near the ski slopes. This option is ideal if you are not taking a car.
