Montse
Brief info
I am Montse a 26 year old, with a professional background in Nursing and extensive experience working with children across a wide range of ages (from babies to 14 years), combining hands-on childcare, creativity, and a strong foundation in health and safety. For the past thirteen years, I have worked at a summer camp in the mountains of Chile, caring for children aged 6 to 14. My role focused on ensuring both fun and safety, leading daily activities, supervising outdoor adventures, and providing emotional support to children while they were away from their families. I was often a trusted point of contact for children in moments of stress or emergencies, thanks to my calm approach, strong first-aid knowledge, and nurturing, reassuring presence. At camp, I also led arts and crafts sessions and music activities, including guitar, creating engaging and creative environments where children could express themselves and build confidence.
Alongside this long-term experience, I have worked as a babysitter for children of different ages, supporting daily routines and offering reliable, attentive care in their home.
My childcare experience is further strengthened by my professional background in nursing. I have graduated as a Nurse and have worked in both Primary care and Paediatric hospital settings. In primary care, I supported new mothers by teaching essential baby care, including bathing, feeding, and safe handling, as well as guidance on stimulating babies’ early psychomotor development. In paediatric hospitals, I cared for children of various ages, developing strong skills in observation, empathy, and responding calmly to children’s physical and emotional needs.
I grew up in a bilingual environment, spending my early years in Vancouver, Canada—where I became fluent in English—before moving to Chile and studying in a bilingual school in Santiago. I am very comfortable communicating with both children and parents and adapting to different family routines and cultures.
I am naturally warm, patient, and creative, with a genuine love for working with children. I pride myself on creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where children feel secure, understood, and free to enjoy their time. My background in healthcare allows me to bring an added level of reassurance to families, particularly in active mountain environments. This season, I chose to work in the Alps to combine my passion for childcare with my love of mountain life and outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing.
"Montse is absolutely reliable, professional, and hardworking. She is highly resourceful and flexible, an excellent timekeeper, and very creative. She is always willing to help, polite, and knowledgeable. She is a sweet and kind person who is deeply connected to children’s needs and always approaches her work with a positive attitude and a smile. She is caring, responsible, and hardworking, with a natural warmth that children respond to very well. She is a wonderful young woman with many talents, and she is greatly missed by our family.”
“I know Montse since she was about eleven, first as a camper, then as a counsellor for many years. I followed her trajectory and all her training stages to eventually become a Senior Counsellor at our camp. I can safely say she is all grown up: ) Montse is a responsible adult, with positive and kind energy. She treats children very well, has patience and is able to resolve small conflicts with creative solutions. She is a talented artist and can lead multiple arts and craft classes with groups of up to 10 children. During her years with us, one of her responsibilities was to administer the medicines to children who needed them at camp. She managed this task in an orderly and timely fashion each day. Montse is bilingual and works well in multi-aged teams; she is able to delegate tasks and assume her own responsibilities as well. She is physically fit and able bodied for outdoor activities like hikes, and river adventures. I believe you will be very happy with Montse in your team. We will be missing her from Las Mulas in the meantime! This will be her first summer away from us in over 10 years!”
