Serena

Brief info

I am an Early-Years Educator with five years of experience teaching English as a foreign language and providing childcare for children aged 0–12, with a strong focus on the 0–6 age group. During this period, and child home care, I worked with several families, in various countries (Greece, UK, Norway and France) and settings, each with unique routines and expectations. This taught me to be highly adaptable, organised, and intuitive in supporting children’s development. My responsibilities ranged from caring for under-1-year-olds—preparing bottles, guiding sleep routines, and supporting early motor development—to engaging toddlers and preschoolers through sensory activities, creative play, and early English exposure using songs, stories, and nature-based exploration.

I worked in a private international school on the Côte d’Azur as an English Assistant Teacher in the 3–6 age group, where I supported and lead lessons within the International Baccalaureate framework. I helped prepare the learning environment, guided small-group language activities, and contributed to daily planning that fosters independence, emotional awareness, and curiosity.

Previously, I gained valuable introductory Montessori experience at a Guidepost Montessori School in Paris, where I supported the toddler community and learned child-led, observation-based approaches that continue to shape my practice. Across both school environments over the past two years, I have developed strong classroom management skills, confidently leading large groups of toddlers—ranging from 9 children per adult to, at times, up to 16—while ensuring a calm, structured, and engaging learning atmosphere.

My additional background in studies of creative advertising also shapes my enthusiasm for imaginative learning, visual storytelling, and designing activities that help children express themselves freely. I believe creativity and autonomy go hand in hand, and I aim to nurture both from a very young age.

I am trilingual in English and Greek, and I am reaching for full fluency in French. I have self-studied non-violent communication, early childhood psychology, and Gestalt psychology to deepen my emotional-intelligence skills. I am committed to creating safe, joyful, and enriching learning environments where children feel confident, independent, and inspired.

“Serena worked with our family as a nanny and during her time with us, Serena consistently demonstrated warmth, reliability, and genuine enthusiasm for working with children. Serena has a naturally friendly and engaging personality, which helped her build an excellent rapport with our children from the very first day. She brought a fun, positive energy to her time with us and was always eager to plan enjoyable activities. In particular, her creativity truly stood out—she regularly introduced new arts and crafts projects that kept our children happily occupied. Throughout her time with our family, we did not encounter any particularly stressful situation; however, Serena always showed calmness and patience in her daily interactions, which gave us confidence in her ability to handle more difficult moments should they arise. I would recommend Serena for any nanny or childcare position.”

"I really can say only good things about Serena. We are so grateful to have her in our team. She is a hardworker, who wants to learn and improve herself all the time. She is flexible and resourceful. She is a teaching assistant in our school, but when we need to cover a teacher, she is doing it with a lot of enthusiasm. Our students and parents love her. She is really caring, and will make sure that kids around her are feeling safe, secure and happy to be here. "
